New Zealand Shattered India’s Dream on the Highest Level Over the Years

New Zealand is everyone’s favorite, and most Indian fans support them irrespective of heartbreaks at regular intervals. The reason is obvious that New Zealand plays genuine cricket. Last time, India won the T20 world cup in 2007, the ODI world cup in 2011, champions trophy in 2013. Whenever India gets close to the trophy, New Zealand comes between India and the trophy. New Zealand beat India in the 2019 ODI world cup semifinal, and still, Indian fans supported them in the final eng vs NZ match. In this article, we are going to see how many times New Zealand has shattered India’s dreams to win the trophy.

2019 World Cup Semi-Final

Everyone was hoping India would lift the trophy after eight years, and India was in dream form with a great combination. India started the tournament with a win against South Africa, and India won against everyone except England, while Ind vs NZ got abandoned without a ball bowled in the group stage. India was in a strong position with top order in the form. It looked like India would win in the semi-finals.

India and New Zealand faced each other in the semifinal but lost the match by 18 runs. The hope of 1.4 billion was shattered with a run out as MSD got run out in the semifinal. The Indian bowler did a great job and restricted New Zealand to 239.

Kiwis resumed their innings and scored 239-8 and gave a target of 240. It looked like an easy chase, but New Zealand’s bowlers had other plans.

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul came to open, and India was too dependent on top-order batsmen. Rohit Sharma had hit five centuries in the tournament, and Shikhar Dhawan was in good touch before ruling out of the tournament due to injury. Matt Henry gave the initial damage to India as he sent Rohit and Rahul to the pavilion. Captain Virat Kohli also returned to the pavilion on Boult. Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya made a partnership but got out after a good start. MSD and Ravindra Jadeja made a great partnership, and when it looked like India was close to winning, Jadeja got out.
