Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph has been rested for the upcoming T20I series at home against Sri Lanka, Cricket West Indies confirmed while announcing the squad. Joseph has been afforded a break as part of his workload management ahead of the two-match Test series against the same opposition.
This series will be West Indies' first in the format post the 2026 T20 World Cup in which they were in contention to reach the semifinal. CWI have made three changes to that squad with Ackeem Auguste, Jewel Andrew and Shamar Springer coming in. All three players have played the format before for West Indies and have come in place of Johnson Charles, Quentin Sampson and Jayden Seales.
Shamar Joseph, who had left the squad before the third ODI, is expected to rejoin ahead of the T20 leg. Sri Lanka had won the ODI series 1-0 with the second and third games getting washed out. Sabina Park in Jamaica will also play host to the T20Is with the games scheduled to be played on June 11, 13 and 14.
"This series is an important one for us as it's our first since the World Cup in India, where the team played with passion, fight and the togetherness that West Indies cricket is built on," Head Coach Daren Sammy said. "Our focus now is to build on those foundations, continue growing as a team and make our fans proud with the way we compete against Sri Lanka."
