Aminul Haque, the Youth and Sports State Minister of Bangladesh, announced that they will take their next course of action after informing the International Cricket Council about the report submitted by the five-member probe committee on Sunday (April 5).
Aminul convened an inter-ministerial meeting after receiving the letter from the probe committee, which recommended guidelines for a free and fair election.
"Look, the investigation committee has already submitted its report this morning and immediately and I convened an inter-ministerial meeting, where we held discussions on the matter," Aminul said after the meeting.
"Once we formally inform the ICC about the investigation report, we will take our next decision," he said, without specifying when the report would be made public, and indicating that further steps depend on due process and international protocol.
Meanwhile, former state adviser for sports Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, known to be the mastermind of the election mechanism, cleared his stance after the probe committee informed media earlier in the day that he did not respond to their request to meet them in person.
"I sought clarification on whether the committee (probe committee) had the authority to investigate a matter under judicial consideration and involving an autonomous institution," Asif said in his Facebook post.
"I received no satisfactory response. I will not knowingly be part of any irregular or contemptuous process," he said.
Aminul added that Asif did not cooperate with the investigation committee probing the BCB elections and the authorities have already noted the former sports state adviser's absence.
"The investigation report has already been submitted. Since he did not participate, that is certainly reflected in the report," said Aminul. "We have reviewed that he was absent, I have seen that myself."
