Chanderpaul to leave role as USA Women’s Senior and Under 19 Head Coach after 2023 ICC U19 Women’s World Cup | CBTF Tips

Shivnarine Chanderpaul, a former West Indies batter, will leave her position as head coach of the USA senior women’s and U19 teams following the first-ever ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa, USA cricket mentioned in a statement on Wednesday.

Chanderpaul’s intention to leave his current position as head coach after the U19 Women’s World Cup is extremely regrettable. His skill as a coach and experience as a player are of immeasurable importance, and they had already begun to bear fruit during his early tenure as coach of the USA Women’s team.

“To lose Shivnarine at this time is without a doubt a big loss for USA Cricket,” an unnamed source said in the board’s statement. “USA Cricket is trying to stabilize from the few losses since its inception in 2018, as half a dozen coaches, few administrators, and few selected independent directors have left.

The latest revelation has come as a huge shock to the board as USA Cricket had just last week announced their U19 Women’s team for the World Cup.

At the Atlanta Cricket League Banquet in Mumbai last week, USA Cricket Hall of Famer Jatin Patel made the statement “We already have half a dozen renowned head coaches disconnected from the National team(s) since the new board is in place and I doubt if Shivnarine will renew his contract after the U19 world cup in South Africa. I had a word with Shivnarine Chanderpaul’s manager and he has confirmed that he will not consider extending or renewing Chanderpaul’ s contract after the Women’s U19 World Cup in SA.”

With great success for the national team and in franchise cricket, Chanderpaul began his tenure as head coach. He coached the USA U19 Women’s T20 team, which won the Caribbean championship in July 2022 by defeating Trinidad and Tobago, the reigning champions. He also served as the head coach of the Jamaica Tallawahs cricket side, which in September won the Caribbean Premier League title for 2022.

Is he Going to Come Back as Captain Post World Cup?

After the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup in South Africa, West Indies great Shivnarine Chanderpaul’s contract as head coach of the USA senior women’s and U19 team(s) is/are unlikely to be renewed. Despite the fact that Chanderpaul has not yet made a statement regarding the choice, many familiar with the issue believe that Chanderpaul is uncomfortable with the current state of affairs and the general lack of professionalism within USA Cricket.

Unnamed source familiar with the situation said “It is really unfortunate that Chanderpaul has intended to part ways with the current role as head coach after the U19 World cup. His experience as a player and his expertise as a coach are of immense value, and it had started to show results in his early stint as a coach of the USA Women’s team. USA Cricket governing body is trying to stabilize from the few losses since its inception in 2018, as half dozen coaches, few administrators and few selected independent directors have departed and to lose Shivnarine at this juncture is a big loss for USA Cricket, no doubt about that.”

Chanderpaul and Jatin Patel, a multi-discipline coach and member of the USA Cricket Hall of Fame, were in town for the Atlanta Cricket League (ACL) annual banquet. Patel expressed his skepticism about Chanderpaul carrying on with his duties after the World Cup. “Since the new board took over, we’ve already lost six illustrious head coaches, and I seriously doubt Shivnarine will extend his contract after the U19 global championship in South Africa. After the Women’s U19 World Cup in South Africa, I spoke with Shivnarine Chanderpaul’s manager Jerin Chacko to get more information, and Mr. Chacko confirmed that he will not be considering extending or renewing Chanderpaul’s contract “explained Patel.

With great success, Chanderpaul began his career as a national and franchise head coach. He helped the USA U-19 Women’s team win the Caribbean tournament in July 2022. In the final, they triumphed over Trinidad and Tobago, the reigning champions. At the Guyana National Stadium in Georgetown in September of this year, he also served as the head coach of the Jamaica Tallawahs cricket team, which won the 2022 CPL championship. He became the first Guyanese coach to capture a CPL championship in front of supporters from his own nation. He made his international debut for the West Indies there as well, launching his career abroad.
