The Future of IPL Betting: Expert Predictions and Tips for 2023 | CBTF Tips

Betting is a profit-making activity practiced widely by people primarily to incur side incomes. It is an act in which one makes informed predictions on the occurrence or non-occurrence of an event. If the prediction made is positive, the person stands to gain the profit, if not they lose all the money risked on the bet. The person who makes a bet is called a bettor.

Betting is often confused with gambling to an extent that people think both are the same thing. Well, they are two different things, gambling being an offense. A gambler tries his luck and does not make an informed or studied gamble. Casinos, for example, foster gambling practices because a gambler plays on sheer luck. On the other hand, a bet is made by keeping in mind the patterns of the occurrence of an event.

Indian Premier League is a famous cricket tournament played in the T20 format. Players from all around the world gather to play in 10 city-based franchises in India. The tournament is organized by the BCCI. It is the most watched and loved regional cricketing tournament. IPL is an emotion of lakhs of its viewers and a profession of many others. It is a perfect platform, not just for young talented people in cricket, but also for betters. While other sports also experience betting, IPL can be said to be the most humongous platform because a lot of data is available about the tournament.

IPL 2023 is scheduled to be played between 31 March and 29 May 2023 in multiple stadiums in India. Gujarat Titans, the 2022 debutants, are the defending champions of IPL 2022. 2022 was quite an unexpected and unnerving season because of the explosive and thrilling game put forth by the defending champions. No one thought that a new team could snatch the title from other legendary teams, given that many people did not have faith in the captaincy of Hardik Pandya. Savior performances by players like Rahul Tewatia, the captain himself, Mohd Shami, and others saved the team from defeat at multiple stages. The team made the season extremely unpredictable and the bettors must have lost a lot of money due to that reason.

But what to expect from IPL 2023? Will it be an equally unpredictable season or do we expect some old trends? Will RCB lift the trophy this time? Which big names are going to miss this season? Keep reading to know more as we unfold some expected trends and patterns this 2023 season.

  • Those Who Will be Missed

Injuries are every sportsperson’s nightmare as they can sometimes mean the end of a short-lived career. Some big names who will be sitting out of the tournament this year because of injuries are Rishabh Pant, Japrit Bumrah, Kyle Jamieson, Jhye Richardson, Prasidh Krishna, and Will Jacks. Rishabh met with an unfateful car accident in December 2022 and has been recovering from multiple injuries. Delhi will miss their captain as a result. The Mumbai Indians heartthrob Bumrah is set to miss yet another season due to his recurrent back injury. Another player suffering back injury is Kyle from Chennai Super Kings and is ruled out from 2023. Jhye Richardson comes as a double blow to Mumbai due to his hamstring injury. Rajasthan’s Krishna is undergoing a lumbar fracture in his spine costing his team a whopping Rs. 10 crores. The promising debutant Will Jacks won’t be able to play for RCB this year.

While you make predictions, keep in mind these names. Not having their captain with them can work as a demotivation for Delhi. Similarly, not having Bumrah by their side yet again this season can prove to be a bummer, though it is an odd year. Hence, do give a thought to what these names are capable of doing and what their absence can mean to their teams in every match.

  • Orange Cap

The orange cap is the prize won by the player with the maximum runs in the whole tournament. KL Rahul loves IPL and IPL loves him back he will be a sight to watch in the race even if his international performances don’t look promising these days. David Warner already has three orange caps to his name and he won’t mind adding another, especially now that Pant is not there to support Delhi. King Kohli will not only be having his eyes on the cap but also on the trophy. He is in great form and has recently hit a test century. RCB fans would love to have their captain with an orange cap yet again. Jos Buttler and Surya Kumar Yadav complete our top 5 list of orange cap contenders given their form in the previous season as well as in the international matches lately.

  • Purple Cap

This cap is given to the highest wicket-takers of the tournament. The absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidha Krishna can act as an advantage for some of the players. Yuzvendra Chahal is the strongest contender on the list. He did that last year for Rajasthan too. RCB’s young talent Harshal Patel had shown some remarkable performances in the previous year. Though he is a bit expensive, he is a promising wicket-taker. KKR’S Lockie Ferguson’s deadly yorkers in the death overs also make him a strong contender for the purple cap this year. Punjab will put their faith in Kagiso Rabada who has already won the trophy in 2020 and took 23 wickets the previous year. Hyderabad’s Umran Malik is our fifth pick for this year’s purple cap race.

  • Other Options

Besides the orange and purple cap, you can bet on maximum run-getters and the highest wicket-takers in each match. All you need to do is read your stats properly. Analyze individual performances and locate individual on-ground rivalries to know which player has an edge over the other. You can also bet on who is likely to win the toss. Betting on the outcome of the match is the obvious option available. However, smaller gains such as the ones just mentioned can help you make better profits.

Conclusion

Besides the above-mentioned practices, one also needs to keep in mind various factors that affect the outcome of the match. Individuals themselves can’t do things if factors like weather, pitch, venue, climate, etc. do not support them. If you are new to the business of betting, learn by having mock setups before you invest actual money. You can practice on paper before you have some real-time experience. Do not make mindless bets unless you have loads of money or you don’t mind losing any.
