2023 Vitality Blast: A Look Ahead of Hampshire Hawks Fixtures | CBTF Tips

2023 Vitality Blast: A Look Ahead of Hampshire Hawks Fixtures

Vitality T20 Blast was introduced in 2003, and it became quite successful. After 4 years, the T20 world cup was introduced to the world, and India won the first edition of the world cup. IPL was introduced to the world after a successful world cup in 2008. The ECB is known for trying out different things, and T20 was their idea. They introduced T20 cricket and the hundred.

In 2003, the competition was started, and it was the first-ever T20 cricket league in the world. Many cricket leagues become more famous than the vitality blast. 18 teams were competing for the title, and teams were divided into two groups – The north group and the South group.

ECB has decided to start Vitality T20 Blast off ahead of Vitality T20 Blast, and it will kick off on 20th May of 2023 at Edgbaston Stadium. Four teams will play on the same day. The first day of Vitality Blast will have two matches as four top teams will play against each other.

Against Somerset

The first match will be played between Hawks and Somerset, and it will start the campaign. They have met in the last two Vitality Blast semi-finals, and Somerset was the winner of the 2021 semifinal and lost the final against Kent Spitfires. They both have faced each other three times in the last season. Somerset started their campaign with a win while Hawks faced a loss. A magnificent inning from James Vince helped their team to win a match. Somerset will face Hawks on the opening day – 24 May, and two weeks later on 7 June.

Against Middlesex:

Hampshire Hawks will play their first-ever Vitality Blast home match against Middlesex. On the first day of Blast two T20 matches will take place, and it is one of them. They will like to repeat the 2022 season in which they spoiled the celebrations of the host team. Middlesex will have a very fond memory of 2008 as they have won only one title at the same venue.

The Hawks will be looking to repeat the performance of the previous season. When they traveled to the Radlett last year, the Hawks’ performance improved drastically. Some impressive performances by players – especially Liam Dawson, whose figure was 14-3, Captain James Vince, and Ben McDermott. The innings of 83 from 30 by Ben McDermott were quite impressive, and he hit five fours and nine sixes. The Hawks will play the first match on 26 May and the second match on 6 June.

Against Surrey:

Hawks will play against Surrey next as Surrey will visit the Ageas Bowl next for the doubleheader. In the last season, Surrey lost the match in the quarter-final against Yorkshire Vikings. Still, Surrey is one of the strongest teams in the T20 Blast, and they have proved it over the years. In South Group, they finished at the top and won ten matches out of fourteen games, and they were the only team to win against Hawks twice. Surrey will play the first match on 31 Wednesday and the second match on 18 June.

Against Essex Eagles:

Hawks is scheduled next to play against the Essex Eagles, and it will be the away match for the Hawks. On the other hand, Essex Eagles are the team that progressed to the quarter-final in 2022. Eagles were the champions of the 2019 but lost the final against the Lancashire Lightning. They won the home match against the Hawks in the group stage last year. The first match will be played between them on 2 June and the second match on 23 June.

Against Sussex Sharks:

The new schedule is released, and it will be played between Sussex Sharks. In June, Sussex will make a short trip to The Ageas Bowl. In the previous season, Hawks bounced back after a poor start to winning the first match, and they didn’t stop and won five continuous matches.

Against Kent Spitfires:

Kent is the champion of the 2021 season, but they have a miserable season and finish at the bottom in the South Group. In the last year, James Vince played a memorable inning against Kent as he hit a century. The only match between Kent and Hawks will be played on 9 June.
