CSA Announces Host Cities for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 | CBTF Tips

Cricket For the forthcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup and the inaugural ICC Under-19 Women’s World Cup will take place in South Africa in 2023. South Africa (CSA) recently announced potential host cities. In February 2023, three cities that are, Gqeberha (previously Port Elizabeth), Paarl, and Cape Town, will host the WT20 World Cup, while the U19 Women’s World Cup will start in January 2023 in Benoni and Potchefstroom.

Newlands Stadium will host an ICC match for the first time since the 2007 Men’s T20 World Cup semifinals; in contrast, the 2003 50-over World Cup group matches were held at George’s Park and Boland Park.

Eight countries have qualified for the Women’s World Cup’s main draw, and two teams will be chosen from the next T20 WC Qualifiers in the United Arab Emirates beginning in September.

One spot is up for grabs in the 16-team U19 competition, which will end following the September Africa Qualifier.

South Africa Will Host Inaugural ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 – Women’s T20 Cricket Updates  

The first U19 Women’s T20 World Cup will be held in South Africa, according to a declaration made by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Sunday. The competition was initially slated to take place in 2021, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 epidemic and will now occur in January 2023.

The ICC Board Meeting on Sunday decided on the new tournament date. The first-ever U19 Women’s T20 World Cup will occur one month before the 2023 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which will also start on February 9 in South Africa.

ICC Launches the First Women’s FTP – Women T20 Match Updates  

Ten countries will compete in the senior women’s tournament; eight of them, South Africa, Australia, India, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and West Indies, have already been announced. The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers, held in the UAE in September 2022, will determine the final two teams.

Tournament Director Russell Adams remarked, “We’re happy to announce the three locations to host the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.”

“The Eastern and Western Cape have excellent infrastructure and amenities and are popular destinations for tourists and cricket players. We are confident that these venues will go above and beyond to ensure that the local and international cricket fans in attendance have an unforgettable and distinctly African experience.

The 16-team U19 T20 World Cup will take place, and the final berth will be determined after the Africa Qualifier in September. Fifteen teams have already been selected (Australia, India, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, West Indies, United States of America, Zimbabwe, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, and Scotland).

Sivuyile Mqingwana, the event director for the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup, is anticipating the competition. “South Africa is experiencing a unique period for women’s cricket; we are thrilled to host the first U19 Women’s T20 World Cup and look forward to the spotlight shining on the world’s top cricketers,” she said.

Chris Tetley, the head of events at the ICC, also expressed his delight at the news. “We are excited to reveal the host cities for the two women’s competitions that will take place in South Africa in the first half of 2023.
