Change in Women’s Cricket Over the Years- Movement for Equal Opportunity | CBTF Tips

ICC created the hashtag #IDeclare on international women’s day to support and promote women’s cricket matches, and it took over all of Twitter. Cricket is one of the popular sports across the globe, but women’s cricket is not acceptable and likable like men’s cricket. Our minds have made certain assumptions while we have been growing. For example, Blue is for men and Pink is for women, there is another example, pick a random man and think of their favorite sports and they will say football or cricket, while on the other hand, a girl will say badminton or tennis. The first-ever women’s test match was held in 1934, and if we compare male and female cricketers. A male test cricketer who has been playing tests for 10 years might have played more tests than the whole history of the female test. The situation of women’s matches will get better if the board will promote women’s cricket like men’s does.

In an interview ICC CEO Geoff Allardice said, Cricket has incredible power to raise awareness about gender equality, and we are committed to gender equality. This platform will provide equal opportunity to boys and girls.

Women Cricket – An Inspiration

Women make a lot of difference in our society with her. Along with work, they carry the responsibilities of household and children. The responsibilities don’t stop them from following their passion or profession. A recent incident will be a great example of it – Bismah Maroof is a captain of the Pakistan women’s cricket team who walked in with a cricket kit in one hand and a toddler in the other hand in ICC world cup 2022. The world appreciates her for keeping the balance between a professional cricketer and a mother. If we compare it with male cricketers things may go into the wrong context, but only women can balance both things.
